the VMDPA club was founded in 1979 by a group of gold prospectors who wanted to share a common hobby, detecting in the bush. plus in a family social atmosphere with social events like BBQ’s Christmas dinners, competitions. events etc.
plus field trips to the many detecting areas around the golden triangle, every month plus the comradeship of a club around a warm camp fire on a cool night.
we sometimes have musicians like a 12 year old playing the bagpipes or sometimes someone playing the guitar, or other instruments, or sometimes with a demonstrator with detectors or useful tools. together with raffles and food, all makes a very happy camp atmosphere around a camp fire. the club committee meets about once a month, and the club has a bi-monthly newsletter with info and maps etc.
sometimes you may get lucky and find a nice nugget, sometimes only rusty nails, but you are still in the bush, in the fresh air of the country side, with friends.
